There is no doubt that the internet is content driven. And if you want visitors to your blog or website, you have to do everything possible to keep them coming and staying for as long as possible to increase your conversion rates. This brings up the importance of using multimedia in blog posts web content to pass across important information to your audience.

If you are using videos on your blog, it is critical to ensure that the visitors don’t go away from the website or blog since you want to keep them on your website or blog for as long as possible. This means that the idea of having them being directed to another website (even a video sharing service) like YouTube, Facebook and others is really out of the question. This is where embedding videos is important. Besides this reason, embedding is important in many other ways. Since you are likely to have videos in many of these video sharing platforms, you don’t want to be constantly uploading that video to your blog hence the need for embedding.

A few years ago, it was impossible to embed a Facebook video in your blog or website. Fortunately, Facebook updates have changed this. Today, users visiting your website can view Facebook videos you embed on your site without navigating away from your website. So, how do you do that? Well, we will talk about all that and more but first off, let us look at the importance of embedding a Facebook video on your site.

Why embed a video

Facebook is one of the biggest social networks in the world if not the biggest. As such, anything you share to and from your website to the social network counts as a backlink to your site. I do not have to tell you the importance of backlinks to your site ranking. Other than the ranking factor, embedding your videos on your site rather than having them on YouTube or another video sharing site ensures that your visitors spend more time on your website. This is good news for your site and overall ranking as well as user friendliness.

With that in mind, let us look at how to embed a Facebook video on your site.

How To Embed A Facebook Video

To embed a Facebook video on your website, all you need is to copy the embed code provided by Facebook and embed it in the appropriate section of your page or content. If you have found a Facebook video you would like to embed, go to the video right now and click on the video thumbnail to commence playing it. It is important to note that Facebook will let you share any video as long its labelled public.

When the video starts playing, hover your mouse over the option menu on the bottom right hand side of the flash/shockwave video player. From options and the pop up menu, select embed video. This will prompt Facebook to provide you with a snippet code. You need to copy this code and paste in your blog post or website page. Generating this code snippet requires an active Facebook account. Embedding Facebook video in Blogger and WordPress

Embedding a Facebook video on WordPress and Blogger follows a similar script. Both platforms allow you to embed a video on posts, pages, and widgets.

*In the case of a post, you need to edit the post in the HTML editor.

*In the case of a widget, you need to select a HTML widget.

After doing this and writing your post or configuring your widget, you can then paste the embed code we copied from the Facebook video. The code should look like this, with the XXXXXX representing the Facebook video id:

<iframe src=”http://www.facebook.com/video/embed?video_id=XXXXXX” width=”540″ height=”420″ frameborder=”0″></iframe>

Once you publish your post or widget with the embed video, the video will appear as if it was uploaded to your own server. It is not watermarked with the Facebook Logo. This is especially useful considering that a YouTube embedded video contains the YouTube logo.
